Is mediocrity my middle name? Another week, another 50 percent success rate. Something has to give here. The season's tally so far is 33 of 70. Sigh.
Here are my 10 picks for the week. One game has already been played. But for transparency purposes, I am linking readers to my tweet on October 20 made prior to the game's start that shows I picked Arkansas State.
Hey, I may be mediocre against the spread, but at least I am honest about those mediocre picks.

Arkansas State -8.5 v Louisiana Lafayette
The Red Wolves' offense is fun to watch. Unless you're a Ragin' Cajun fan. Lay the points.
Cal +3.5 at UCLA
Since this game is too tight to call, I like the team getting points. Some times, it's really that easy to pick a team. Take the points.
Georgia Southern +5.5 at Appalachian State
These teams are nearly identical in statistical comparisons. This is too close to call so of course, take the points!
Houston -21.5 at Central Florida
I've watced Central Florida football—I may need therapy to erase it from my memory. Lay those points.
Washington State +7.5 at Arizona
It's not that I do not think the Cougars can throw up points—they can! I think the Cougars' defensive line is very underrated and may give Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon fits. Expect a lot of hurried throws and possible turnovers as a result. Take the points.
New Mexico +7.5 at San Jose State
The Lobos are overachieving but like all New Mexico football teams, this fantasy must end. The Lobos have improved, no doubt, but let's not ride this pony all season. Take the points.
Pitt -6.5 at Syracuse
Syracuse football is not fun to watch. But Pitt football is! The Panthers are ranked No. 25 and have a lot of incentive to beat Syracuse. Lay those points.
Colorado +2.5 at Oregon State
I honestly thought the Buffs would be favored in this game. Home field advantage is usually worth three points, so Coloado actually is slightly favored. The Beavers have a good defense but this team is rebuilding. Take the points.
Toledo -14.5 at UMass
Holy Toledo! The Rockets are legit! Look for the cover in the early third quarter.
Rutgers +21.5 v Ohio State
Rutgers football isn't exactly eye candy but then agian, Ohio State has tended to play down to the level of its opponent. So take the points, right?
